Pear and chocolate oatmeal bars

Pear Halves in 100% fruit juice from concentrate

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) cinnamon
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) baking powder
  • 4 ml (3/4 tsp) salt
  • 2 Del Monte canned pears, mashed
  • 1/2 canned pear, sliced to put on top
  • 250 ml (1 cup) milk
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) vanilla extract
  • 65 g (1/2 cup) chopped walnuts
  • 85 g (1/2 cup) melted chocolate

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F)
  2. In a bowl, add the dry ingredients - oats, cinnamon, baking powder and salt and whisk well.
  3. In a separate bowl, add the wet ingredients - mashed pears, milk, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk well to combine.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, and mix together.
  5. Add in the walnuts and mix.
  6. Pour the mixture into a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and top it off with sliced pears.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the middle is cooked, and the sides are turning brown.
  8. Let it cool before you cut it into squares and drizzle with melted chocolate.
  9. Let the chocolate set, and enjoy!
