Pear and chocolate oatmeal bars
Ingredients
- 2 cups Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
- 5 ml (1 tsp) cinnamon
- 5 ml (1 tsp) baking powder
- 4 ml (3/4 tsp) salt
- 2 Del Monte canned pears, mashed
- 1/2 canned pear, sliced to put on top
- 250 ml (1 cup) milk
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 5 ml (1 tsp) vanilla extract
- 65 g (1/2 cup) chopped walnuts
- 85 g (1/2 cup) melted chocolate
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F)
- In a bowl, add the dry ingredients - oats, cinnamon, baking powder and salt and whisk well.
- In a separate bowl, add the wet ingredients - mashed pears, milk, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk well to combine.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, and mix together.
- Add in the walnuts and mix.
- Pour the mixture into a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and top it off with sliced pears.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the middle is cooked, and the sides are turning brown.
- Let it cool before you cut it into squares and drizzle with melted chocolate.
- Let the chocolate set, and enjoy!
